| There are many important issues facing Black Californians. One, which is of greatest concern, is the absence of Black voters at the election polls.
By ignoring the vote, fewer Black politicians are sent to Sacramento to represent the Black community. In the end, Blacks are essentially silencing their own voices in the Democratic process.
As leaders in the black community, we must turn this dangerous trend around or risk losing the ground we’ve gained in the past century through the sweat and blood of our foreparents.
This is the time for us to step up and remind the people WE elect that we have critical needs that must be met -- and the only way they will be met is if the political process and the players are understood.
Remember with knowledge comes power. With power comes liberty and freedom for all. These are the things that will keep our community alive and flourishing for now and future generations.
